Race Horse Annie is on the track again!! (Well, the cross country course! :)

Ok, we're on a good streak...no "hitting the wall" and we're now past the 2nd meet of the season...so we're ahead of last year! :) I think she's got it down...she starts out at her pace and continues to pick it up slowly, but surely and passes one girl at a time(her dad's slogan is etched in her mind now, "forget the place and just run your race!") She was in about 17th place coming into the first mile, then by the end of the 2nd mile she was in 7th place and 1/2 mile or so later she was in 3rd and maintained that position until the finish! She said she felt a little light headed during the last mile, but just prayed she'd not go down...she said her coach, Coach Monty, told her before the race to 'pray to God' during the race if she felt those feelings! So thanks, Coach...it helped her! :) She is also a firm believer in Dennis Deaton's advice in his book, "Mind Management",(she said it really helps her to read parts of it before a race, which she did again this morning on the bus ride over!) and writing down AFFIRMATIONS...so she's not only written affirmations for herself, but has shared this bit of advice with her fellow teammates and several of them (including some boys!) are using this technique as well and have found it very helpful during the race and hard workouts! She is the team captain for the girls team and is doing a fabulous job at helping the them stay focused, motivated and being unified...I'm so proud of her as a person and a runner! She's on the way to reaching her lofty goals! WAY TO GO, RACE HORSE ANNIE!!! (The nickname comes from her Grandpa Bawden!)
