So Kenny and I are trying to get the word out to all who would also like to help...only $20 a day will feed one person a month! So if you are interested and would like to help...here's a link below.
This is a young man Jen knows who was given a camera to start a little business to earn money...his name is Gethun and lives in this village Jen is helping.
THANKS SO MUCH!
LISA =)
Cleaning the house
Driving a taxi:
Washing his hair... he (probably his mother) walked up to 5 miles to collect the water. The waterline that Hope Arising is putting in will cut that time down significantly. (There are no showers, bath tubs, faucets.)
Riding his bike to school. How about that uniform??
"See, it's people like Gethun that you'll be able to help with just a small donation. It's not a matter of him or others being lazy or without creativity or motivation. It's a serious lack of resources and opportunity.
Sometimes it feels like an elephant... my dream of saving Ethiopia (or at least a village in Ethiopia). But I'll do it one bite at a time. Right now I've bitten off raising money. A lot of money. Will you bite off a chunk too??
(If you want to make a donation, click here. (It's tax deductible) Be sure to read about some of the people you can sponsor and how your money will be used. And feel free to create your own little campaign for fund raising- save coins, skip eating out once a week...use your imagination. Every little bit helps!)
Post it on your blog... send an email or two. Put it on Facebook, Twitter. Print one of my photos and post it on your desk with a money jar. You get the idea...just imagine you are a creative Ethiopian teenager who sees an opportunity... (All donations made through Hope Arising are tax deductible! People like that you know.)
(PS If you know me very well then you may or may not know that I love, LOVE, LOVE elephants and would never, ever eat one for real.) "
